Thank you for visiting our Web Site.

We are the Bold Mission Builders of the Stone Mountain Baptist Association (Georgia).

We exist to assist missions, churches and other church related organizations in the construction of facilities that will bring honor to our Lord Jesus Christ and further the advancement of His Kingdom.

We invite you to consider joining us as we serve the Lord. You can participate by praying, by giving, and by going.

Please browse our Web Site to check on our current projects and those we have completed in the past.

What is our PURPOSE?

The purpose of the Bold Mission Builders is to assist new missions, existing churches and other   church related organizations in the construction of facilities, including sanctuaries, educational and fellowship facilities, dormitories, etc.

We normally have one major project each year with construction scheduled from May - August. God has blessed our efforts over the years and we now have enough people and resources available to take on a few smaller projects throughout the year. These additional projects not only include construction of new facilities but also renovation and repairs to existing facilities. We also have small groups of our team members who participate in mission/ministry projects involving individuals who are in need of help.

What is our ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE?

Coordinator:   The coordinator of the Bold Mission Builders is Joel M. Brown. Joel has been a Team Leader since the early 1990's. He later became the Team Leader for two separate teams. In 2003 he accepted the call to serve as overall Coordinator. He is assisted by his wife, Bernice. In 2004, Joel and Bernice were appointed by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention as Mission Service Corps missionaries serving through the Stone Mountain Baptist Association under the leadership of Larry Cheek, Director of Missions. Their primary responsibilities include coordination of the Bold Mission Builders projects and Adult Volunteer Mobilization. They are available to speak in churches during worship services, to mission organizations, Sunday School classes, youth or children's groups and to participate in Mission Fairs and Mission Conferences. Joel is an ordained minister and is available to preach on missions and mission involvement.

Team Leaders:  Each church that has a team involved with the Bold Mission Builders has a person or persons designated as Team Leaders.  These individuals coordinate their team's participation in any particular project or projects. They may have assistant team leaders who help them with recruitment, planning, promotion, etc., within their church. The team leaders also serve as project leaders for their team while actually on site during a particular project. Some persons who have a particular skill may serve as co-team leader during a particular phase of a project, i.e., framing, roofing, heat/air, plumbing, electrical, etc.

Workers:    The many volunteers who participate in each project are probably  our most valuable resource (second only to the power and help that comes from God). These people come from all walks of life, all age groups, and all skill levels. The one thing that they have in common is a love for the Lord and a desire to be a part of what He is doing. God always provides the people who are skilled in each craft necessary to construct a building. With the patient and helpful assistance of these individuals, unskilled volunteers quickly realize that they can do things they never dreamed possible. God can use anyone, no matter what their abilities may be, nor their age, sex or physical condition. There is a place for everyone to fit in and something for everyone to do with the Bold Mission Builders.

INVITATION:   If you are a visitor to this Web Site, we invite you to browse the site and observe what is going on in this ministry. If you are skilled in a particular building trade and would be willing to invest your time and talents in the growth of God's Kingdom, we invite you to come and join us. If you are not skilled in any particular building trade but are looking for a place to serve God, we invite you, too, to join with us. And no matter who you are, if you become a part of our team, you will experience some of the most wonderful Christian fellowship available anywhere.

What Is Our HISTORY?

During the 1980's there were several churches within the Stone Mountain Baptist Association that sent out construction mission teams each year. Each of these teams was involved in a particular phase of the construction of a church building and they all went to different places and worked on different facilities.

In 1990, God gave three men a vision. These three men were David Travis, Director of  Missions for the Stone Mountain Baptist Association, Don Wood, mission team leader from  Zion Baptist Church, Covington, Georgia, and Walt Knight, mission team leader from First Baptist Church, Conyers, Georgia.

The vision that God gave to these men was to unite the mission construction teams from the various churches within the Association and form a group of volunteer builders that could take on one project each year and complete the entire project from beginning to end. Someone told them that this was a bold undertaking. Thus the name Bold Mission Builders came to be.

Since 1990 the group has built several church buildings within the Stone Mountain Baptist Association, which covers Rockdale, Newton and a portion of Dekalb counties. Church  buildings have also been constructed for congregations in several other counties in Georgia and in other states including Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Many of the congregations that we have helped now have teams that are a part of our group. Others have launched out onto their own mission endeavors, thus expanding God's Kingdom even farther. Although we originated as a mission endeavor of the Stone Mountain Baptist Association in Georgia and are headquartered there, our teams include individuals and groups from numerous churches around Georgia and from other states. We also have some individuals  from other denominations who participate each year.
