West Texas Ranch

Bold Mission Builders Project #3 – 2010

West Texas Ranch for Christ

Blackwell, TX

The West Texas Ranch for Christ is a unique facility available for use by church groups for retreats and for use by other Christian organizations.  It is owned by the family of Evangelist Billie Hanks and is operated by a Board of Directors.   Some of the ongoing activities include seminary classes on Disciplemaking taught by professors from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX, and involve ministerial students from most all the SBC seminaries and students from seminaries in Europe and South America.  Baptist Collegiate Ministry Directors have held retreats there in recent years.

There is an ongoing need for maintenance, repairs and remodeling.  Bold Mission Builders teams have been going to the ranch and doing missions since 2003.  There are presently two teams scheduled to go this year.

April 3 – 10 BMB team made up of members from Zion Baptist, Covington; Poplar Springs North Baptist, Dublin; First Baptist, Snellville; First Baptist, Louisville; and Bethel Congregational Methodist, Butler, will be going to clean grounds and buildings, begin replacement of floor covering in one building, begin complete tear out and remodel of bathroom in one building, and repair holes in entrance road.

May 1 – 8  BMB team made up of members from First Baptist, Cochran; Second Baptist, Warner Robins; and Macedonia Baptist, Oxford, will be going to do exterior and interior painting; install new cut-off valves under all sinks; install laminated flooring in one building; install wall, floor and ceiling covering, sink, toilet and bath tub in one bathroom.

Meals  Each group will have their own cooking team.  Meals will be prepared and served in the main conference building.

Lodging  Lodging will be provided on the ranch at no cost to participants.  Couples may be housed in buildings with private bedrooms.  Individuals may be housed in dormitories with men and women having separate facilities.  All bed linens, pillows, towels, etc., are furnished.  Washing machines are available to wash work clothes.
